    Brent Griffis, Realtor & Co-owner

    Brent Griffis is a veteran real estate professional with 14+ years of experience in the real estate industry. After beginning his career with LAH Real Estate, Brent worked with RealtySouth and RE/MAX before forming his own company, ShadesCreek Real Estate. After enjoying success with ShadesCreek, Brent saw a niche that needed to be filled in the real estate market and partnered with other experienced brokers to co-found LIST Birmingham

    When asked why he wanted to take on this challenge, Brent said, “Agents work hard for their clients and are an integral part of making transactions happen, but clients work hard for their money and strive to build equity in their homes. We built LIST to be able to provide a top-tier selling experience while also allowing sellers to hold on to more of their hard-earned money.”

    Throughout Brent’s career, he has delved deeply into every area of real estate, from selling, helping buyers, rehabbing homes for resale, and rentals to developing, building, and investing in various properties. In each venture, Brent has been blessed and is humbled by his success with helping his clients thrive.

    Melvin Upchurch, Realtor & Co-owner

    Melvin is a veteran real estate broker in Birmingham, AL., who specializes in connecting buyers and sellers with the experiences they desire while showing care, compassion, and commitment to superior performance.

    Melvin has had a passion for real estate and finance all of his life. This passion began with his playing marathon “Monopoly” games as a child. After a successful career in public accounting and corporate banking, he entered the world of real estate investment and obtained a real estate license to facilitate building his real estate portfolio

    Melvin noticed there seemed to be a huge opportunity in the real estate profession for agents who could provide a higher level of customer service and expertise than was generally available. In 2007, Melvin created a real estate agency that focused on building relationships, providing extraordinary service and a high level of expertise. Remember, 2007 is the year the real estate bubble burst, yet the company Melvin founded was tremendously successful.

    Despite his success as an agent, Melvin again noticed an opportunity. Due to the changes in technology and the availability of more information on the internet, particularly on sites like Zillow, the public has an increasing appetite to alternatives to the “traditional” way real estate agents work.

    Melvin learned from experience just how vital professional real estate agents are to a real estate transaction, not only to save money for clients, but also to protect them from the risks associated with what is typically the largest single financial investment most people ever make.

    Melvin and his partner, Brent Griffis, shared a vision for a company that could provide phenomenal service for buyers and sellers. The key was to offer sellers a FLAT FEE/FULL SERVICE alternative. The flat fee allows homeowners to keep more of their hard-earned equity in their homes. The full service helps to protect buyers and sellers from the tremendous risk associated with any real estate transaction. The company has been a huge success.

    Robert Montgomery, Chief Operating Officer

    Leveraging over 10 years of “in the trenches” experience as a Franchise Owner, Entrepreneur, and Business Coach, Robert joined the LIST team because he believes in the vision to provide a better alternative in Real Estate.

    “It was seeing the huge success that LIST has achieved with a relentless focus on providing phenomenal service for buyers and sellers that made me realize this was a unique opportunity.”

    Robert has spent years coaching smart business owners to create a stronger vision, smarter goals, and the right systems and accountability to succeed. As Chief Operating Officer, Robert is putting these skills to work to help LIST continue on its impressive growth path.

    A lifelong learner, Robert loves reading, traveling, adventure, and fitness.

    In 2013, he put his desire to help others together with his adventurous spirit and rode a bicycle solo over 2,600 miles across the country and raised over $10,000 for Neverthirst, a local non-profit ministry that provides clean water to the poor.


    Chase McCain, Realtor

    Chase got his start in real estate working for a new construction company here in Birmingham. There, he gained valuable experience working with buyers and created lifelong relationships through the process of helping them realize the American dream of home-ownership. Since transitioning to re-sale in 2014, he has achieved success as a listing and buyer’s agent.

    Chase brings with him an understanding of the factors that go into a young adult’s first time home buying decisions as well as the experience it takes to help more seasoned home ­buyers. His goal is to treat every individual transaction as if it was for a member of his own family.

    He lives in Hoover with his wife, their 1 year old daughter, and their dog Pepper. He enjoys golf, reading, and traveling.

     


    Jill Upchurch, Realtor

    Jill grew up in Upper St. Clair, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. Her early life was dominated by sports. She earned a scholarship to play tennis at the University of Nebraska. After her college graduation, she moved to Birmingham to become the tennis pro at The Country Club of Birmingham. In her spare time she took additional college courses at UAB in accounting and enjoyed a career as a CPA in corporate accounting. In 2009, she became a real estate agent and won the Birmingham Association of Realtors “Rookie of the Year” having achieved the highest sales volume of any new agent for the year.

    Jill brings her passion for sports (she is still an avid Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Huskers fan), her accounting and financial expertise, plus her ability to sell real estate, to LIST Birmingham. Jill will focus on financial operations and agent training for the company.

    Jill recently explained the concept of LIST Birmingham to one of her friends. The friend asked a great question, “Why would anyone choose to list their home with another company?” Jill responded: “I cannot think of any reason. Our sellers get a powerful marketing program, robust agent representation, tremendous customer service and they get to save a lot of their hard earned money. Our buyers get highly motivated, full time agents that are in tune with the demands of today’s well informed consumer.”

    Besides helping build Birmingham’s only locally owned, FULL SERVICE/FLAT FEE real estate company, Jill’s first love is spending time with her son Bram, who was born in 2009, and doing all things “family” with Melvin and Bram.
